City of Sanibel to conduct Fertilizer Endorsement Classes -
Mandatory Endorsement required for Vegetation Competency Card Holders and Fertilizer Applicators
On March 6, 2007, Sanibel City Council approved Ordinance 07-003 regulating the use of fertilizers containing nitrogen and phosphorus on the island. The Fertilizer Ordinance is just one part of Sanibel's commitment to reducing nutrient concentrations in our local waters and improving water quality.
As a result of the new ordinance, all commercial and institutional fertilizer applicators must register with and be certified by the City. A City certified applicator must be on-site at all times when fertilizers are being applied. Certification includes a current Business Tax Receipt (formerly Occupational License), Vegetation Certificate of Competency, and Fertilizer Endorsement.
The City's Vegetation Competency class is now the Vegetation Competency AND Fertilizer Endorsement class.
You should register for this class if you do not have a current vegetation competency card and:
Classes will be held at Sanibel City Hall, in McKenzie Hall, 800 Dunlop Road, from 1:00-5:00 PM on the following dates:
Wednesday, December 12th (Class) & 19th (Exam)
Wednesday, January 9th (Class) & 16th (Exam)
Wednesday, February 6th (Class) & 13th (Exam)
Classes will be held at Sanibel City Hall, in McKenzie Hall, 800 Dunlop Road, from 8:30 AM-12:30 PM on the following dates:
Friday, January 4th (Class) & 11th (Exam)
We will resume the regular class schedule (classes offered quarterly--January, April, July, October--on the first Friday of the month, with the tests given the following Friday) in April 2008.
